Welted boots that are resoled rather than replaced, from makers who still do the resoling.
A boot is the only thing you wear that can be rebuilt. A Goodyear welt stitches the upper to a strip of leather instead of gluing it to the sole, which turns the sole into a part: it comes off, a new one goes on, and the upper that took six months to fit your foot carries on for another decade. Everything here is welted and everything here comes from a maker that still runs a resoling service, which is the difference between a boot you keep and a boot you replace.

How this is funded.
A six inch cap toe boot on a Goodyear welt, which means the sole is stitched to the upper through a leather strip rather than cemented to it. When the sole wears through, and in six or eight years it will, a cobbler cuts the stitching and sews on a new one, and the leather that has taken the shape of one foot carries on. The toe cap is there because the original was a miner's boot.
The moc toe on a white traction tread wedge, welted like the rest of the heritage line, so the same rebuild applies: the wedge is a part and comes off. The soft wedge sole is the reason this one gets worn every day rather than kept for weekends, and the one that wears fastest, which is exactly why being able to replace it is worth paying for.
The round toe version of the same welted construction, cut on a roomier last than the Iron Ranger, which is the one to try if a cap toe pinches. Everything that makes the others rebuildable is here: a leather welt, a sole that comes off, and a maker that will do the work.
