Wall Clocks

Clocks with a quiet sweep movement and a dial worth hanging, from makers who still sell the movement as a part.

A wall clock is one of the few things in a house with no upgrade path: it either keeps good time and looks right, or it does not. The mechanism is a quartz movement and a single cell, which means the only wearing part costs a dollar and takes a minute. What separates these from the rest of the wall is the dial and the sweep: a second hand that glides instead of ticking, in a case made of metal or wood rather than painted plastic.
